Dan's Review of Vortex Razor HD 4000 7x25mm Laser Rangefinder

Purchased this on a sale from OpticsPlanet. I was originally debating between the Sig Kilo 2200 and the Vortex Ranger 1800. Both priced around the same with the Sig out performing the Vortex. Warranty is always a concern of mine so I am a fan of Vortex. But I did not want to sacrifice performance when spending 400$+. When this unit went on sale I was able to get the Long Range performance with a competitive price and the Vortex warranty. Checked all boxes and was an easy decision. As far as performance, took it out to the range and had no problem hitting steel at 800 and 1080 first try. These are confirmed steel yardages set up in place by the range. I live in Nevada, so I took it out to a local golf course and the desert to stretch it out and test its capabilities. Very easy hits on things like buildings or signs out past 2000 yards. While I did not need something that ranges 4000 yards, for keeping in the same price category as say the Sig 2200 or the Vortex 1800 I chose this one for the strength of the laser and the ability it had over saving 50-75$ and given the choice again Id do it the same .
