New Holo King
Wow. Vortex hit another home run.
This thing is an American Made Holographic Tank. Not as heavy as you might expect but it does take up a bit of rail space so running a magnifier with it might be tough if you have iron sights but I don't see how this thing could fail so feel free to ditch the irons.
Great sight picture. The reticle is awesome. 1MOA dot surrounded by a circle with a triangle at the 6 o'clock. Versatile design while keeping a clutter free sight picture. Zero on the center dot and use it to engage at 25yds and out while the bottom triangle is point of impact for 10yds or less.
Runs on a CR123 battery or you can use a rechargeable battery and charge the it while still in the sight via the usb port.
Given the battery life for CR123s and how many I have laying around, I have yet to try the recharging feature.
Lower 1/3 Co-witness height for those of you who care. Half my ARs don't have irons or they flip down so absolute vs lower 1/3 never made a big difference to me (until you try to align a magnifier or PVS14 haha).
That being said, I didn't test the UH-1 with a NV device and didn't see anything in the manual about any of the 15 levels of brightness being for NV. It does get quite dim when you drop it down to the lowest setting so I will give that a try at some point.
Running the UH-1 with a magnifier was great, made peppering the steel at 200yds too easy. The buttons on the back got covered by the magnifier but I didn't need to use them for any adjustment...

Solid Unit
Was hesitant in buying this after reading some of the negative reviews. Glad I bought it. The footprint is similar to an Eotech 552, but box like and slightly shorter. The unit is solid and not "NcStar" quality. As for the durability, I'll let the paid reviewers torture test their units. The re...

This thing NCstar quality
It was so blurred, ghosting and sloppy I sent it back to Vortex the day I received it in the mail. They sent it back saying they fixed it. It was the same. Sloppy, ghosting, flaring and the "triangle" is a blurry dot. Seriously, save your money and get an eotech.
Blooming reticle
if the reticle is start bursting thats your eyes not the sight. You have a stigmatized. Easy way to check is to use your camera on your phone to look at the reticle, if it isn't bloomed out its your eyes

Great product
Used for my air soft rifle it gets plenty of run time, I find myself at an extreme advantage when using this either in a CQB or midrange. Love the sight would recommend to anyone, so if your on the fence pull the trigger.
Pros:
- Great sight awesome warranty
Cons:
- non yet
Best Used for:
- All things tacticool
Would recommend: Yes
Quality optic
I was looking for something similar to eotech and finally went for the UH-1. I've been using this optic for almost a year now and it has held up incredibly well. The holographic illumination gets very bright even in full sunlight and the optic has held its zero too. Definitely a great optic for about half the price of an eotech.
Pros:
- Built like a tank
- solid QD mount
Cons:
- None
Best Used for:
- any ar15 build
Would recommend: Yes
Excellent Optic
I think this is better than the eotech. Both solid choices though. You can not beat the warranty with vortex protects. The glass also appears to be clearer on this one, almost to the point you look through it and you can not even tell you are looking through an optic. Vortex did good with this one.

Excellent Eotech alternative
I have used this setup for about 6 months and have had excellent results. Having an astigmatism, the reticle does appear hazy at times, but clears up significantly when using the magnifier. Battery life has been excellent. The eye relief of the magnifier, although a bit short, has worked well for me. It allows me to tuck the firearm in closer, which brings the magnifier closer to my eye.
Pros:
- eye relief and Clarity
Cons:
- None

Hit or Miss
I have two of these, the first one was great, and had nice clear glass. The one I ordered from Optics Planet has a very blue/green hue to it which is irritating to look through. The reticle also has a blooming effect to it.
Pros:
- Price/value for the money
Cons:
- tinted view through glass
Would recommend: No

Great optic
Really like this holographic sight, well made and not as big or clunky as you’d expect from pictures. The quick detach holds it very secure to the rail. I also like that you can use a rechargeable battery.
Pros:
- durable
Cons:
- None

Vortex razor (huey)
The product arrived quickly and was exactly as portrayed. As with any holographic weapon sight the reticle does appear fuzzy. It doesn't bother me at all, but to some it may. The packaging was top notch from vortex. The instructions were very easy to understand. The brightness and dimming features are easy to use. Mounting took less than 3 minutes, as minor adjustments needed to be made to the qd mount. I have a burris magnifier behind it and it works like a charm. Reticle alignment was easy as pie. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a top quality product at half the price of other holographic sights. Thank you vortex and optics planet.
Pros:
- Affordable and great craftmanship
Cons:
- On dimmer settings the reticle can wash out with a bright light
Best Used for:
- Range/home defense

razor amg uh-1
Very solid body, easily removable. Has great clarity in the lens with durability. Red dot is clear and very precise. I was impressed at such a quality product for such a reasonable price. I would highly recommend this product. I even complimented it with a vortex 3x fold out magnifier which allows for so much more capability in sport hunting.

Fantastic Sight w/One Caveat
I asked my wife to get me this Vortex Razor AMG UH-1 Holographic Red Dot Sight with the 3x magnifier for Christmas and she did, which was nice. As I opened my surprise on Christmas morning and saw this beauty, I was in awe. The sight is very sturdy and easy to figure out even without the manual (which by the way is written very clearly and concisely). Once I mounted both the sight and the magnifier and started looking through both, I noticed the clarity of the glass which is simply outstanding. However, here comes the caveat, which really has nothing to do with the quality of these products at all. If you have astigmatism like I do, I highly recommend that you go to your local gun shop or show and check out this product before you buy. Reason is that even when I focused on my target rather than the holographic reticle, the reticle appeared to me like a giant starburst rather than a crisp and clear image. I tried this aiming exercise with glasses, contact lenses (which I usually wear when shooting), and without an corrective lenses. In all cases, the reticle remained fuzzy even when I looked right past it and focused on the target. So, while I absolutely appreciate the product, I decided to return it to Opticsplanet and get an LPVO with an etched and illuminated reticle - problem solved.
Pros:
- Quality
- cost
- Glass clarity
Cons:
- Check before if you have astigmatism
Best Used for:
- Fast target acquisition
Would recommend: Yes
