Wow. Vortex hit another home run.
This thing is an American Made Holographic Tank. Not as heavy as you might expect but it does take up a bit of rail space so running a magnifier with it might be tough if you have iron sights but I don't see how this thing could fail so feel free to ditch the irons.
Great sight picture. The reticle is awesome. 1MOA dot surrounded by a circle with a triangle at the 6 o'clock. Versatile design while keeping a clutter free sight picture. Zero on the center dot and use it to engage at 25yds and out while the bottom triangle is point of impact for 10yds or less.
Runs on a CR123 battery or you can use a rechargeable battery and charge the it while still in the sight via the usb port.
Given the battery life for CR123s and how many I have laying around, I have yet to try the recharging feature.
Lower 1/3 Co-witness height for those of you who care. Half my ARs don't have irons or they flip down so absolute vs lower 1/3 never made a big difference to me (until you try to align a magnifier or PVS14 haha).
That being said, I didn't test the UH-1 with a NV device and didn't see anything in the manual about any of the 15 levels of brightness being for NV. It does get quite dim when you drop it down to the lowest setting so I will give that a try at some point.
Running the UH-1 with a magnifier was great, made peppering the steel at 200yds too easy. The buttons on the back got covered by the magnifier but I didn't need to use them for any adjustment...
