Most Helpful Positive Review Vortex Razor HD 11-33
This is the Best Spotting Scope I have ever used not only is the Glass super clear all the way out to 33X but is still light weight and very packable. any other spotting scope on the market you just wont use or only use from the truck because they are all just to big and clunky. I have taken it on multiple elk hunting trips and wolf hunting trips and love to bring it just because I know it wont take up to much room in my pack. just to give you an idea on the clarity I was able to spot a coyote over a mile away with this thing and tons of elk at "who knows" how far away. Great product Vortex!!!...

Spotting scope issue

by Rich, from CO, United States Written on May 24, 2022
This spotting scope has too small of a field of view for me. Eye fatigue is bad. What are my options? Can I return it for a refund? Please send me information as to what procedure I need to follow to return it. The magnification is good and clarity is good. Thanks for your help with this matter.

Razor 11-33x50

by Petrus, from CA, United States Written on December 11, 2021
Awesome backpacking spotting scope. The clarity is surprisingly clear! I wish the power was just a little bit more but, this scope gets the job done. It was quick and easy to focus and very lightweight.
Pros:
  • Lightweight
Cons:
  • Needs better eyecups that are easy to stay on
Best Used for:
  • Quick observations

Vortex Razor HD 11-33x55 Angled

by Joel, Verified Owner from NC, United States Written on September 25, 2020
I was looking for a quality glass for birding off my back porch. I thought about the larger scope in the HD family from Vortex but realized that the this 11-33x had a better "close focus" for my needs. Great purchase with Vortex tripod.

vortex razor HD 11-33x50 spotter

by Bertronomus, from MN, United States Written on October 13, 2019
I was looking for a lightweight scope and with the reviews i read this was it. Good scope for the money, I find the focus a little ruff when adjusting, but can deal with it.The weight is what I was trying to gain, since my 80mm is not weight friendly to pack. Clarity was good on viewing of animals at many different magnifications. I would recommend this scope to someone.

Great lightweight scope

by Spotter, from CA, United States Written on March 26, 2019
This is a perfect petite lightweight scope for local outings and especially for traveling, which is what I bought it for. It’s so light I can hold it in my hands and have a steady view. The target images are sharp for normal light conditions. I haven’t yet tried it in low light but likely somewhat compromised at 33x—not unexpected at this price point. Very pleased.
Pros:
  • Petite size and light weight
Cons:
  • None for my use
Best Used for:
  • Birding, wildlife viewing, travel scope

Good choice

by nm1858, from MD, United States Written on March 4, 2019
I decided to try this scope based on the very good reviews for optical clarity. This is after I bought and returned a 65 mm Vortex Viper. Unfortunately, I was not able to compare the two scopes side by side. All I can say is that the Viper did not give me that sensation of immediate satisfaction. It was like something in the image quality was missing. This scope on the other hand produces an image that is striking. I aimed it at a car license plate at dusk and was just floored with the resolution and color. The fact that it performed well even in relatively low light conditions despite the smaller aperture was quite impressive. Subsequently I tested it by printing the word “Test” in Arial in font sizes from 10 to 48. At 50 yards distance on an overcast day I was able to read 12 point and could almost make out the 10 point print. I have a feeling that it will probably work on a brighter day. I am also very happy with the small size and weight, which makes a huge difference when deciding to take it along or not.

On the negative side, I am less impressed by the short eye relief (this is why I am knocking off one star). At the lowest mag it is not noticeable, but when you zoom in, the image disappears down in to the eye piece and you have to get really close to see the full field of view. At the max mag, I need to get close enough that the rubber eye cup touches. Even when folded down, I can’t see the full view with eye glasses, so I have to get used to taking them off when usi...

Great light weight scope

by SAM, from OH, United States Written on July 31, 2018
Very light weight, great for packing in. Clear sharp glass at lower magnification. Gets dark at max Magnification. Hoped for a little better glass from vortex's razor top of the line. But i guess it should be expected at 33x with only a 50mm objective lense. I was able to spot a deer in a soy bean field at 1.7 miles, Google earth confirmed. Would buy again
Pros:
  • light weight
Cons:
  • Gets dark at max 33x
Best Used for:
  • Long distance foot travel(packing in)

Razor spotting scope review

by Home, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on June 21, 2018
I have been very pleased with this spotting scope. The clarity/sharpness is excellent. It is compact and easy to travel with. My previous spotting scope was a Redfield. There is no comparison. At the highest magnification the picture is still sharp. I have only used it at a range out to 200 yards. Easily see holes made by .270, .308, 30-06 calibers. I think would be very good in a pack if someone was hiking in to hunt or simply view scenes while hiking.
Pros:
  • Clarity / brightness is outstanding
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • range, hunting

Great light weight scope

by Live2Hunt, from CA, United States Written on December 17, 2017
I like that it’s light enough for backpacking. Works perfectly for what I do. And this scope is small enough it fits into my backpack.. If you’re looking for a scope that’s not going to weigh down your backpack, this is the scope for you. I would recommend it to anyone that wants to buy a quality scope for the money.

Vortex Razor the working man friend!

by CD, from KS, United States Written on November 18, 2017
Purchased for elk hunting and use at the range. First off very clear all the way to edges and great for back packing and no complants on magnification. Looked at several of the competition products all heavier in weight and seem have the same clarity but at a higher price without a lifetime warranty. It has met and survied the elk hunt trip out any problems, buy with confidence in a great product.
Pros:
  • Price point and easy of use
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • The back country and for the working man pocket book
