this works but it really stands on out on the firearm and could probably be better stored somewhere else on the body. It seems like its larger than it needs to be

Overall, it does what it is supposed to.
To use it, you must have access to an open end of your rail. For example, if you have a BUIS front and a laser, these must be removed so the device can be slid on.
I purchased 3 of these and two of them didn't have the cable crimped on tightly and the cable disconnected from the cap.
Cons:
- poor cable crimping
- challenging to install
Best Used for:
- SHTF or one-time field use

I have an illuminated reticle and this provides some peace of mind when out in the field. Easy installation and low profile so you can hide it almost anywhere. Mounted mine just in front of my bipod and used the lanyard to tie off to it.
Best Used for:
- Any who needs an extra battery

Since batteries store well, but will run down with use, makes sense to have a spare. This gizmo keeps the batt dry and available. Currently black only, but can probably be painted some other color with plastic-gripping paint like Krylon Fusion or other, similar paint
Cons:
- Pic-rail mount only, but adaptora are available for other systems

It looked good in the picture, but it is made out of plastic and the tab that locks it to the rail broke off so the battery holder would slide on the rail. Just need to be very careful when installing it.

Does what it is supposed to. Little expensive, but if your battery goes out on your optic and you don't have a spare, well, you get the idea. I cut the tether off, snagged easily.
Pros: lightweight, easy to put on, seals nice & tight
Cons: tether on the cap gets in the way and is easily snagged

Great way to keep a spare battery for an Aimpoint T1 or a Leupold Mark 4 (illuminated reticle model) close at hand. Low profile design with a tethered and 'o-ringed' battery cap.
Pros: Low profile and light weight
Cons: Takes up 1 1/2" of rail space.
