Handy size + good optics
The Vortex Solo offers good quality optics in a handy size and shape for a moderate price. It delivers sharp, clear, and bright viewing images which are comparable (in my experienced but non-professional opinion) in quality to most good quality binoculars in the $200 to $250 price range which I have ...

First look......
Just got this right out of the post office, ripped it open like a kid getting a redemption coupon from a cereal box and whoa, is this really a Vortex product? I have binocs from this brand and they are top quality, even had to use the super great warranty when they got busted up. But, hey, this gu...

Vortex monocular
Lightweight, strong optics, clarity small size, great for range
Would recommend: Yes
It's a monocular
Good clarity, field of view, and fit in hand. My gripe with this product is the lack of lens protectors. They come with a nice padded carry pouch for long term storage and packing, but when wearing around the neck with the lanyard, or when clipped to a belt or waist band, I would like to have something keeping dust, debris, and scratchy things away from the lenses.
Pros:
- Ease of use
- Affordable
Cons:
- lack of lens covers

Great monocle.
An amazing piece of gear I wish I'd had during my combat tours. It's great for spotting during zeroing of optics, hunting, recreation, or as I hinted at, tactical uses.
Pros:
- Fantastic value
Cons:
- None

Works As Expected
I got into birding several years back and primarily use a mirrorless camera outfitted with a large telephoto lens. While I can look through the camera to get a better view of a potential subject, the camera battery drains a little with each surveillance shortening the batteries' charge for taking pictures. Note that I have a pair of Zeiss binos that I sometimes bring along but often leave them at home and just use the camera. I have been reading about the Vortex brand, which appears to be solid, and noticed the lifetime warranty. The Solo 10X36 monocular is relatively small (approximately the size of a toilet paper cardboard roll) and can fit into a jacket/vest pocket (w/o the case), buckled onto a belt (w/supplied case), or attached using the belt clip, which is large and sturdy. While the view through the monocular is not a crisp as with the binos, I was not expecting it to be. Since purchase, I find that I am bringing the Solo on my frequent birding trips due to the light weight and relatively small size. The view using the Solo is bright and clear with fairly good resolution. For the price, these were a good buy and will get plenty of use.
Pros:
- size, weight, brightness, build quality
Cons:
- None especially at price point
- none, especially at the price point
Best Used for:
- Outings where the size and/or weight of binoculars might
- Outings where the size and/or weight of binoculars might cause you to leave them at home

Vortex Solo Monocular
I ordered my Vortex 10x36 Monocular from Optics Planet for price and availability. My order was filled the same day and shipped the next day. I shopped several brands and models and chose the Vortex, I have a Vortex scope on one of my rifles. I went to a big box hunting and fishing store and checked out the monocular to see if it would fit my needs. I was sold and asked to purchase it and was told it was a display and not for sale. I could order one and pick it up when it came(2-4 weeks estimated) I live 2 hours away and decided to look elsewhere. I remembered opticsplanet.com from a previous search,I don’t remember if I purchased anything, I found the exact model on their website in stock and at a lower price.

Vortex 10x36 monocular is just the perfect size
I purchased the vortex 10 x 36 monocular for deer and turkey hunting. I just wanted something light and less bulky to carry. Sometimes binoculars and the harness get in the way. I needed a lighter option.
