Great scope
Just mounted it to my AR 15. Haven't used it yet but it looks and feels amazing.very easy to use and adjust the sights. Crystal clear picture. You can't bet it for the price. Lifetime warranty can't go wrong.

Major Draw Back
Really needs a larger eye box, eye relief and larger reticle. it’s difficult to express my disappointment because everything else about this sight is amazing. Clarity, reticle shape, quality, weight, warranty, reticle light, accuracy etc. I am returning this sight because I installed as far back as ...

LOVE MY NEW Vortex Spitfire HD Gen II 3x Prism Scope
I had high expectations for this new scope and it has exceeded them all. Everyone knows Vortex makes quality products and this doesn't disapoint. The fit, finish, ergonomics, simplicty of design and use are all spot on. The glass and optics are excellent. I was worried about the eye relief and height of the scope for the AK build, but both turned out to be perfect. I was also torn between a red dot, fixed magnification or variable magnification. I felt like this was a great compromise between all three. 3x still allows for both eyes open close quarters operation, but with the addition of 3x magnification for 100+ yard shots when needed. All that in a small, lightweight footprint which the varialbe optics can't provide. Happy Camper - (literally) :)
Pros:
- None
Cons:
- None especially at price point
Best Used for:
- CQB out to 100+ yards

Simple and easy
Picked this optic up, saw some negatives, saw some positives. Will admit that the optic does have to be on the last rail next to the charging handle to get clear optic picture, but use is great. Sighted in low right, 15 ticks up, 6 ticks left and was smacking bulls eyes in a quarter grouping at 15 yards with a small target to simulate distance. Optic never broke free, never loosened on picatinny, and once set, did not have to readjust. This optic is definitely worth it's weight running at 100 lower. The rectical lights beautifully, and very easy to transition between one and two eyes. Getting the sight picture was very easy, had it almost as soon as I lowered my cheek to the butt stock. I still need to run distance, and use the distance hashes, but as it stands, 0-100 this optic will serve me well. Easy to install, easy to use, easy to sight, and not $4000
Pros:
- Sights easily
- Easy to use, crisp and clear, holds zero
Cons:
- Too close to charging handle
- Sight can be too bright
Best Used for:
- Short & medium distance shooting

Nice quality optic
This thing seems to be built very well. Looks nice, nice clear glass, the etched reticle is very clean and looks nice. Eye relief is pretty good too. Illumination settings are simple and go from nice and dim to extremely bright. Comes with 2 different mounting height options, battery and tool for install. Would recommend this.

Good Clear Optic - Terrible eye relief
Optic quality is great. Controls are easy to use. Windage and elevation clicks are crisp. The see through mount is a nice feature, I am able to use the peep sights on my 10/22 easily. Eye relief is a joke. Mounted all the way to the rear of the rail and need to choke waaay up on the rifle to get a clear sight picture. Probably going to mount this on a PDW with a much shorter stock .
Pros:
- Clear optics
- Easy Controls
Cons:
- eye relief terrible
Best Used for:
- PDW

Unusable eye relief - save yourself some pain...
For a bit of context, I have many, many optics from a variety of manufacturers ranging from high-end across the full spectrum. This includes two Vortex optics that I really do like, and feel are solid quality.
This Spitfire HD Gen II 3X, however, is simply awful - primarily due to the simply pathetic eye relief. I fully understand the nature of prism scopes, red-dots, LPVO's and the like as it pertains to eye relief - and was prepared to mount this one as far back as possible on an AR rail. Even still - it is so ridiculously short on eye relief you'd have to choke the stock completely back into the receiver and push your face onto the optic for it to be viewable and thus compromise any bit of situational awareness or comfort you might have to give.
I returned a Nightforce NX8 over less than par eyebox - the eye relief on this one is even far worse than the NX8 was for eyebox.
Please spare yourself some grief and look elsewhere if you're considering this one...

Tough and holds zero
I'm satisfied with it. It's only drawback is its eye relief but that is not at all abnormal for a prism optic, you'll need to mount it all the way back and take a nose to charging handle (assuming you're running an AR) position to get an appropriate picture just like you would with an ACOG. That aside it's survived my obsession with painting rifles (poorly at first which means several layers) and being banged around in my gun box intermittently as I rotate my uppers. It was about 70°f when I zeroed it a year and a half ago and remains zeroed without adjustment now, that includes winter temperature (30-ish degrees). It's also significantly lighter than the steiner 1-4 lpvo that it replaced. It's also handled a few hours of light rain on a few occasions and hasn't given me any battery life or flickering issues. Solid optic for the money.
Pros:
- light but solid
Cons:
- Eye Releif
Best Used for:
- Homestead Protection
- Defensive rifle use

Verify optic sight is compatible with your weapon before purchasing
This Votex sight is a great product. Unfortunately it will not work on a Ruger Mini-14. Due to the eye relief being too short. Have returned product for refund. Will research Optic Planet web site and select a optic that fits a Ruger
Pros:
- Outstanding product all around
- Outstanding product
Cons:
- Does not fit all rifles
Best Used for:
- Best used on AR style weapons

Smallest optic ive ever seen
I originally bought this as i wanted a longer range scope with some more info to utilize, i didnt look at anything for this sight besides an image of what the reticle looked like, when i got it and first looked through it i thought it was busted as i didnt see the reticle. The reticle is just that small that i couldnt see it properly, waiting to return this for a refund
Pros:
- Sturdy, compact
Cons:
- The reticle is so small that the extra info is worthless

Love it, all around
Ideally it would have longer eye relief, but on an AR pistol, you're close in anyway. I'm fully comfortable with it. At the range the other day, another shooter said "100 yard bullseyes with a red dot?!". I laughed and said, No its a 3x prism scope. He begged to check it out and shoot it. He remarked how big and bright the image is. Great glass. I had a Nike 3x scope, and loved everything about it except that on a 8.5" pistol it was just too heavy. It imbalanced the whole piece. This little beauty is no bigger than a red dot. I can shoot with both eyes open. It has a nice CQ reticle, and a 1 moa center dot, that are permanent, (as well as illuminated) so no need for back up iron sights. I did the math and the 2nd subtension on the BCD scale is a nice approximate 200yrd (4 moa) for the 125 gr. .300 blk. What more could you ask! Very happy with this scope.
