Vortex made a lot of changes to the Spitfire 3x Prism. I bought this as an upgrade from the previous version Spitfire 3x Prism EBR-556B. I really like both.
New One: Sleek, simple, clear, lightweight, sturdy, rubber bikini caps, more brightness settings
Old One: Clear, sturdy, came with quicker but heavier mount, red and green reticle choices, farther eye relief. Flip up caps. Heavy, large footprint, string hangs off for battery cap
So, the new Spitfire is lighter (9.3 vs 15.4 Oz) and sleeker (no clutter of flip up caps, extra rails, extra battery cover and string). Both have quick target acquisition. I actually prefer the old flip up caps and green reticle choice. I don’t miss the old rails, battery cap and string. I think I’ll just have to get another rifle and keep both Spitfires.
