Dan's Review of Vortex Spitfire HD Gen II 5x Prism Scope
This compact 5x scope is very nice, but to see the whole circle, you must place your eye about 1-1/2" behind the scope.
This means the scope needs to be as far back on the picatinny rail as possible. It means your nose ends up about 1/2" behind the charging handle, which will then bonk you on said nose under recoil.
I'm using the Spitfire 5x on a 300AAC Blackout pistol with 7-1/2" barrel, and full loads with 150 grain bullets punch me in the nose unless I really hold the gun down. Not bad, really, but I wish there was more eye relief.
Secondly, the center dot of the lit reticle is microscopically small, as is the bullet drop compensator ladder.
I do like the adjustable diopter to bring the reticle into sharp focus. Nice.
Comes with two picatinny risers: low and high.
The rubber lens caps are tethered to the optic and to each other, so they don't get lost.
The reticle is black and visible even if the battery dies, and many levels of red brightness when illuminated.
Remove the two screws that hold the top cover on and a Vortex Venom red dot fits on it with no adapters. This is handy considering that 5x is a bit too much magnification for close-in target acquisition.
Overall, a great sight.

Pros:
- Compact, easy to adjust, rugged, captured lens caps, 5x power, focusing eyepiece, can mount a red dot on top,
Cons:
- Reticle center dot is tiny, not enough eye relief, a bit heavy
Best Used for:
- Gunsight, I guess, could throw it at someone in an emergency
