Awesome optic, almost love it
After running a 1-6 LPVO in conjunction with an offset red dot as my "do it all" setup for my 14.5" AR, I realized I mostly leave my LPVO somewhere between 4-6 power anyway so I purchased the Spitfire Gen II 5X as a potential lightweight replacement for my LPVO. In the terms of weight savings, footp...

Wanted to love... but can't.
Pros:
-Sturdy optic with best warranty on the market.
-Very clear optical clarity for this price point. Noticeably better than my Burris 556 prism optic. Feels like good bang for buck.
-Lightest weight 10.8oz optic you can get at 5x. I cannot find another optic that gives 5x magnification, at this q...

Nice prism. Built like a tank. Wish the top RDS mount was an rmr footprint. Reticle is daylight bright.

Great for astigmatism. Very clear etched reticle and glass.
I purchased this HD Spitfire 5X from a friend that didn’t like it. When I looked through it…. It was like day and night. I played it off like I wasn’t impressed so he wouldn’t think I loved it and tell me a high price. Barely able to hold back how impressed I was. He sold it to me for cheap. I own high end reflex and holographic sights and this for me is close to the best small optic out there for my astigmatism. Best scope for LVPO is March Optics Shorty 1-10x but not budget friendly. So I immediately ordered a Scalarworks quick release mount (around $100) for the Spitfire. Also an amazing mount which is much lighter than the stock mount. Plus to be able to return to zero when I put it back on after taking it off for thermals. Scalarworks mount returns to zero where I had it before. I shot 200rds to test Scalarworks claim, with 20 round intervals of taking the optic off and putting it back on in the same spot on the picatinny rail. Only once did it not return to zero and it was my fault not tightening the wheel on the mount all the way. It was off by 2” at 100yds. Once tight it was shooting groups as it was before. The Spitfire is easily adjusted for sighting in. Simple and effective. The brightness of the lit reticle is very crisp and clear. Using it in full sun on the brightest setting I could still see the red but because it’s a Prism I was able to use the reticle without any problem. That is the most important factor to me is if the battery is dead or not functioning...

Oldie but a Goodie
Amazing optic. Definitely much lighter than the Gen 1. The optional mount lets you use this on a variety of weapons. I haven't found the perfect red dot for the mount above the optic but there are a number that can easily mount on this optic for a X1 option.

This scope is sick!
The purchase of this scope started with my 33 year old son building me my first AR-15. After he completed the gun it was time to decide on what type of sights to purchase. After much research and watching/reading a ton of reviews. I decided on the Vortex Spitfire HD Gen II 5x Prism Scope. This scope is of high quality and the optics are excellent. My son was very impressed and jealous. His words were “ this thing is sick, and now I have to get one, dang it”!

Vortex 5x prism scope
Awesome optic for the money, performance is great and the fact you can put a regular optic on top for short distance shooting is a real plus. It’s like having a more expensive setup without breaking the bank
Best Used for:
- AR Platform

Great product except for one thing
Compact, high quality, great reticle… really bad eye relief. On an AR it will need to be mounted as far back as possible to use it or else you’ll be resting your cheek on the charging handle.
Pros:
- compact
- quality material
- Reticle and clarity
Cons:
- eye relief
