A user's Review of Vortex Strike Eagle 1-8x24mm 30mm Tube FFP Rifle Scope

I've had this scope for about a month and shot a couple hundred rounds through the rifle with it mounted. I've only gotten to use it at a limited range around 150M, however the scope preforms beautifully even at close ranges. This scope is definitely everything that Vortex promises, and the overall performance of the scope puts it comfortably in the middle between their Crossfire II 1-4x24 and their Razor HD GEN III 1-10x24. This scope offers that middle ground for the average shooter.

Things that kick a** on this scope:
-FFP LPVO for this price point.
-Bigger capped turrets give a very tactile feel and allow you to adjust on the fly.
-Included throw lever and sun shade out of the box.
-Very smooth transition for magnification, the magnification ring feels like butter but is stiff enough to not move under recoil.
-Glass is as clear as the rest of the Strike Eagle line up.
-3.9 inches of eye relief make this feel like a red dot on 1x.
-Reticle Illumination is bright enough for daytime use.
-Etched reticle is crisp.
-Built well and feels like it could take a few hard hits.
-VIP warranty incase some of those hits are a little too hard.

Things that could've been better:
-Included lens caps aren't the greatest, they friction fit but they're fairly loose and don't flip to 90. If running lens caps is your thing then look for the Vortex Defender caps, you're looking for the 0-24 and E-10 for this scope.
-The eye relief past 6x gets a little hard to find the sweet spot, but nothing crazy. It's just noticeable enough that when still shooting at short-mid distances it's best to stick to 4x-6x.
-Battery life, it takes a CR2032 battery and will drain it if you leave it on overnight in the cabinet or safe. The reticle is daytime bright and will be easily seen in bright conditions, but if your battery is running low it will considerably dim the reticle.
-The throw lever doesn't have the best surface to purchase against and can wiggle free. I torqued mine down with a considerable amount of force and have gotten through 150 rounds since it last broke free.

Overall for this price point I highly recommend this scope. If you are in any position to get this at a discount below the $500 range it's a no brainer, especially if you're already considering other 1-8 FFP LPVO's.
