1-8x strike eagle vs 1-6x - Vortex Strike Eagle 1-8x24mm Rifle Scope

First of all I'd like to say I do recommend this scope. I also like the cantilever mount. This is an all around good package at this price point.

HOWEVER,
I do not recommend this over the 1-6X Strike Eagle for 2 reasons. First of all, the price difference cannot be justified for the extra 2X. The reason I feel it can't be justified is my second point. From 1-6X they are essentially the "same scope". Very little fisheye at 1X and the clarity at 6X is once again fine in this price range. That last 2X comes at a distinct loss in clarity and the eye box shrinks noticeably. Certainly not a deal breaker for bench use, but off hand the sight box becomes small enough that keeping your sight picture can be hit/miss (no pun intended). Considering the deals you can get on the 1-6X now that the 1-8X has been released makes the 1-6X a far better value.
