Backcountry tripod. - Vortex Summit SS Tripod ST-4

I purchased this tripod to support a Nomad spotting scope for late season Mule Deer hunt. At six inches and under two pounds this tripod easily fit into my backpack and was hardly noticed while hiking up and down thousands of feet of elevation each day. In typical sitting against a bush or rock spotting, the Summit SS is rock solid. When fully extended in moderate to heavy wind there is movement, but that is not what I purchased this unit for. Mechanicals were bullet proof in dust/ mud/ snow for over a week of heavy use.
Pros: sturdy, lightweight, compact
