Reddog's Review of Vortex Switchview SV-4 Throw Lever
I purchased this throw lever for a new Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6 scope for my Sig Sauer MCX rifle. It seemed expensive compared to some other products that I considered, but all of my other Vortex had always exceeded my expectations. This product is no exception. It arrived quickly from OpticsPlanet. Upon opening the package it was immediately obvious that this was a well designed and very precisely manufactured product.
There are numerous models of the throw lever that offered by Vortex, and they are specifically manufactured to fit a specific model of Vortex scope. So, be sure that you order the correct model for your specific Vortex scope.
The instruction were short and a little vague, so I suggest you review some of the YouTube videos regarding the installation of the throw lever to a scope. Especially important is the recommended use a drop of oil on the “ball” and then gently working it into the “socket” prior to installing the throw lever onto your scope. When disassembled, the throw lever is spread opened and placed around, and attached over the magnification adjustment ring of the scope. This is where careful attention is required in order to prevent scratching the finish on the scope tube. The throw lever is then carefully reassembled and tightened around the magnification adjustment ring. The instructions clearly caution not to over tighten.
Once installed, the throw lever vastly improves the ability to adjust the magnification with a single finger or thumb. This addition makes it possible to easily adjust magnification while viewing through the scope and maintaining firm control of your firearm.
