I bought this scope in MOA because that is what I`m trained at and used to. Impressed at the scope out of the box. Mounted on an R700 in 30.06. I don`t hunt much anymore, but enjoy working up loads and making small groups on paper out to a grand.
Right off the bat, I had trouble getting this scope sighted in, I recognized that something was wrong with the erector. Called Vortex, they gave me the info for returning it, very nice and helpful fellow. Sent it in UPS, got it back in 6 days!!! He sent a letter explaining what was wrong and what they did to fix it (replaced the erector, cleaned lens, verified that the crosshairs were centered, and repurged the scope with new seals), also apologized for the problem. There were no questions asked, just send it back and we will fix or replace it. Some will say that having a problem in the first place is bad news, but I have had to send back scopes made by much more expensive companies. Vortex is top notch in their customer service and products. I have bought other Vortex scopes and will continue to do so knowing that IF, I have a problem it will be taken care of quickly without any hassle. After all, in any production manufacturing, something`s get through QC, it`s human nature. This scope has performed perfectly since the return.

This is one of the best scopes on the market for the money. This is the third time I've purchased the Viper PST line, and it continues to impress. This puts the nikons and the leopolds in the same price range to shame. Purchase this scope and you will not be disappointed at all.
Pros:
- Priced well and inlcludes an IR illuminator
Cons:
- retical lines are a bit thin on 556 scope

I really liked a lot of features about this scope: the MOA reticle, the tactical turrets, the zero stop, the illuminated reticle. Those were all great features. But zoomed in at 16 power at 100 yards, the glass on this scope was not sharp and not clear. To me, that is the most important feature on a scope. I compared it side by side with 2 different 4-16 Nikon Monarchs, and the Monarch glass (for $400) was slightly better. I didn't even bother comparing this to my Leupolds. For all the rave reviews and fanfare that Vortex is getting these days, together with its $650+ price tag, I really expected better glass. I guess that is the tradeoff, they give you a lot of high-end features at a decent price, but you get very mediocre glass. I sent this scope back to Optics planet and purchased a Sightron SIII instead for just a little bit more. I could not be happier. The Sightron SIII glass is very impressive.

I absolutely love the reticle and turrets. Glass is pretty sharp up to 12x but gets a little fuzzy at full zoom. Not bad by any means - about the same as other scopes in the price range.
The lighted reticle is another nice feature. I didn't think I would really use it but it's actually pretty useful.
Pros:
- Turrets click
- Turrets settable to zero
- Reticle quality
Cons:
- Glass could be better but the price would rise as well.

I received this item after I was told in December it was out of stock and received a debit on my credit card for the value. In the meantime I have been spending time trying to find a replacement. Once this scope was received I was surprised. So now I have a scope I ordered "sort of". I ordered the first focal plane version (FFP) and received the Second focal plane version (SFP). If I could I would send it back, but I do not know what would show up if anything.
Sincerely,
Ron Wiepz

Extremely clear glass. The numbers on the grid are a bit tiny for my aging eyes. I moved the scope around until the eye relief was best for my vision deficit. The 2 MOA grid works perfectly when you know distance and bullet drop. The knob for illumination shuts the light off every other click so user is only on click away from off. This is convenient and will prolong battery life. There is no blur when the power is at 16. Some scopes blur at higher settings. Not the PST. This puppy has serious reach. I only compete out to 1000 yards and this scope is a wonderful tool for that. It was cheaper than the 6x24 PST. 4x16 is really all I needed. It is PLENTY! With the shims, I zero'd at 200 yards. It holds zero tight. All control knobs have distinct tactile operation.

This is the best scope that I have ever had on an AR-10. Very clear at all powers and ranges.
Also have an Vortex viper PST 6-24 and that is also super clear and the cross hairs are very clear at 24 power and 1000 yard targets.

This is one of the best scopes I have. In fact, I have 4 of them.
Great glass for Dusk/Dawn hunts. I've taken coyotes at midnight, without anything but the moon light, at a bit over 100 yards with no problems! The Illuminated reticle is also priceless for these situations.
Pros:
- zero stop
- Quality for pirce
- Sun Shade Included
Cons:
- Zoom rings are a little on the tight side

Arrived promptly and as described. Very nice piece of glass for the price! Includes some features that you'd expect to only find on more expensive scopes. The illuminated reticle is a nice feature for low-light situations.
