DTNG's Review of Vortex Viper PST Gen II 1-6x24mm 30mm Tube Second Focal Plane Rifle Scope
This is my first scope, for the past 15+ years I've only used a Trijicon Reflex but my 64 year old eyes needed a break so I figured this would work for the range, 3 gun, and hunting. Since 200 yards was the max distance where I hunt I figured this would be a good choice. I've been very please with my Viper PST Gen 2. I've used it to drop 2 small hogs at 200 yards with my .308 and many more inside that distance, with my reflex I was limited to about 100 yards. The glass is clean, the MOA reticle works for me, easy to turn off the illumination, and it's rugged enough for me and holds zero when I travel with it to hunt (800 miles one way). My only complaint would be the turrets were originally extremely hard to turn but have improved with use. I would also recommend getting the switchview throw lever as it makes zooming in or out so much nicer.
I use the Vortex throw lever mount (which I will review elsewhere) and have been moving it between rifles. This has worked but I've grown tired of moving it so I want to get a second scope. As I'm writing this I'm thinking I want to get a Vortex Viper PST II 2-10x32 to dedicate to the .308, dedicate this to 5.56 AR, and my Reflex on my .300blk
