Great Got Better
I have used the Gen 1 Viper PST 2.5-10x32 FFP a few times and liked it, so when the Gen 2 came out I was interested in seeing what had been refined.
Moving the illumination control off the eyepiece is the first thing I noticed and in my opinion is an excellent change. Looks cleaner and removes a snag point. I also prefer the EBR-4 reticle to the EBR-1, as the EBR-4 has finer lines and a variety
The upgraded turrets offer slightly more max adjustment and utilize the RZR zero stop system rather than the CRS zero stop system that requires shims.
While the Gen 2 has better Field of View than the Gen 1 and a close focus of 20yds instead of 35yds, it is also a bit heavier and has slightly shorter eye relief than the previous model.
Overall I think the weight gain is worth the upgraded features and for the price this scope is packed with value.

Sweet for an AR-10
I bought this scope for my AR-10. I am a hunter and wanted to reach out for better distance specifically for hog hunting, though if an opportunity arose that a trophy buck appeared, I did not want to miss an opportunity. Both happened with success. The scope performed well in the breaking morning sun rays and the low light of legal shooting time. At morning light, this scope gave me clarity to harvest a hog at 138 yards. It dropped another at low-light of dusk at 180 yards. At 128 yards, this scope was right on for a 10-point south Texas buck.
It was easy to dial in. It is easy to focus and ...

High quality intermediate optic...
This optic absolutely blew me away. It's my first step outside the budget-optic category, and I've always struggled to understand how some optics could justify such a high price tag. After spending time behind this one, I finally get it.
The eyebox is incredibly forgiving compared to the budget optics I've used in the past, making target acquisition faster and more comfortable. The glass clarity is also exceptional—everything looks noticeably sharper and brighter.
Another factor that helped justify the investment was the reputation of the Vortex warranty. Knowing the company stands behind its products gave me a lot more confidence in spending extra money on quality glass.
If you're on the fence about moving up from budget optics, this optic helped me understand exactly where that extra money goes.

good MPVO for AR
Scope is good for AR 556 - 223 ballistics.
Used videos for setup and dial in zero.
Only downside is elimination knob is a bit stiff.

review for Viper PST Gen II 2-10x32mm 30mm Tube First Focal Plane Rifle Scope
Clear and bright vision. Would prefer a larger objective lens for twilight but that wouldn't work with my rifle and base. Accurate turret adjustments. Surprisingly heavy. I would not use this on a super lightweight or carbine. Great reticle.
Pros:
- Rugged, accurate, wide field of view.
Cons:
- weight
Best Used for:
- Flexible applications
Would recommend: Yes
Probably the best LPVO for the price
For rifle competitions with targets from 1-600 yards this scope checks almost all the boxes. Great reticle, hash marls above the center for hold under, easy to read. The glass is clear and scope has a forgiving eye box. Exposed turrets , tactile adjustments, and a zero stop. The only feature missing (and definitely not a deal breaker) is locking turrets.
Would recommend: Yes
Affordable DMR Scope
Good glass. Very rugged feeling. I really like the dials. Only negative is the weight, but at this price you can't expect everything. Bought on sale too.

Scope and rings
The scope and rings are extremely well made, unfortunately for me, I inadvertently ordered the wrong scope. Fortunately, the return process was easy. I sent back the scope received and am awaiting the scope I originally wished to order. I kept the rings as they are the size needed.

Vortex Viper PST Gen2
Very happy with this new scope. Sighted in at 100 yards, and mounted on BCM 16 inch AR 15 upper. Glass is clear/crisp so far out to 400 yards. Plan to try out to 600 and 800 yards.
Zeroing was straight forward so long as you follow steps in user manual. Illumination adjustment was very stiff initially but got better after repeated turning. Illumination best used for low light as it's invisible during daylight. I like the inclusion of the sun shade as these have proven critical to me in the past. Works nicely with cantilever mount.

Just received not yet used.
Received in six days. In perfect condition and as advertised. Haven’t mounted on rifle yet but appears to be just what I need for my 73 year old eyesight. Somewhat heavy but I won’t be running and gunning at my age.
Pros:
- Very clear glass. Distinct adjustments with no slop. Good eye relief. RZR Zero stop capability. 10 power zoom for old eyes.
Cons:
- Somewhat heavy but not a problem for bench / target shooting.
Best Used for:
- Hunting, Target, Self Defence.
Would recommend: Yes
