I love the idea but it dosen't quite work for me.
THe quality was fine and it fit the revolver fine.
I love the idea of keeping my iron sights as a backup and also so you don't misplace them but it just didn't work out.
1) it's steel and HEAVY, not awful but once you add a scope and rings...
Would be fine for bipod/rested shooting.
2) you give up a lot of functional length on the front and back for those sights. I couldn't mount my long-body red-dot.
Might be OK for shorter optics like a holo-sight, but then you feel silly having that much rail.

My M629M review
This mount went on a S&W XVR 460 magnum and I used it during this Novembers deer hunt. I fired about 60 rounds from my XVR before taking it afield without any problems with the mount. This is one of the most powerfull hand guns on the planet so that says alot for its reliability and sturdyness. Good mount
