Super sturdy is right!
No demerits whatsoever for the weight, as Warne also sells aluminum rings if you prize low weight, but tells you upfront that these rings are steel. My rings are securing a large sniper scope, so I chose the steel purposely. No lapping was necessary. The machining is awesome, and you can tighten, loosen, and tighten the rings again on a scope w/o marring the tube. A full 8 screws hold the ring halves together! For a lightweight AR &/or carbine application, go w/alum.
Pros: Sturdiness; perfect machining.
Cons: Weight.
Warne tactical rings
I use Warne rings on all my MSR rifles. I have them installed on a 223, 6.8spc, 450 bushmaster and a 308 without an issue! These steel rings are rock solid and hold true round after round. I've tried aluminum rings with much less success. I have been slowly converting all my rifle and pistol rings to Warne because of their outstanding strength and unmatched customer support. You just can't go wrong with Warne steel rings. IMHO...
