Legacy Reviewer's Review of Weaver Tactical 4-20x50mm Mil Dot 30mm Rifle scope

As a competitive high power rifle shooter this scope fills all of the features that I look for in a scope to compete in a variety of disciplines. The broad power range is ideal for tactical rifle matches and hunting application where target distances and terrain can vary from one extreme to the next.
The glass is clear through the entire range of power . It's as clear at 20x as it is at lower the magnifications.
The first focal plane mil dot reticle is a nice feature for ranging or using a holdoff at any distance on any power range, giving an advantage in this area over second focal plane scopes.
The side focus knob is clearly marked with the appropriate yardage much like an adjustable objective would be thus eliminating any doubt or confusion and reducing the chance for parallax issues under time constraints .
This is my first experience with locking target turrets, which is a nice benefit in the field when there is a lot of movement or handling of the firearm. The turret design by Weaver requires no tools for setting up your zero, which is expedient for those who may want to use the scope on several different rifles.
The scope tracks extremely well as one would expect with the micro trac design and proved to be very accurate and dependable at a recent 500 yard F-Class match that my son and I competed in using this scope.
I would like to see more elevation available in the scope. It has 60 moa of elevation adjustment which leaves it a bit short for some long distance shooting (1000 yards or further) with certain calibers.Plan on using a 20 MOA base with this scope . This is not unusual for competitively priced scopes with this broad power range however .
All things being considered I believe this scope is the best you can buy in it's price range and I plan to purchase another very soon.

Pros: tracking, repeatability, broad magnification range , first focal reticle , glass clarity
Cons: only 60 MOA ,not atypical for this broad power range
