I purchased this rail to mount a small light/laser combo on my Mossberg Shockwave 590. The rail mounts as it should. The pre-drilled mounting holes line up and quality is good. Can’t beat the price either. Remember to use a very small amount of locktite on the mounting screws to ensure that they do not back out from the shock and vibration of repeated firing.

My Shockwave came with pre-drilled holes for scope mounting. This Weaver base matched up perfectly to my Shockwave. A little alcohol to clean the pre-drilled holes; a little LocTite Blue on the mounting screws. Then torque the screws down and leave it alone until it "sets up". Piece of cake.

This 1-piece base (48338) mounted cleanly on my Savage 11 Trophy Hunter XP, and replaces the 2-piece factory-installed mounts. I did this to add additional support across the action and allow more flexibility with positioning the rings/scope. I am also replacing the factory-installed rings with "Weaver Cross Lock Riflescope Rings, 1-in, Medium height, Matte 49303" so the scope sits lower/closer to the rifle barrel. The factory rings placed the objective lens about .360" above the barrel; the Weaver rings will to reduce this space to around .160".
NOTE: The image that appears for this specific base is incorrect. 48338 is a single, flat piece of metal. [The "image" that more accurately represents this the one that corresponds with WR-MT-BFCFDE-48345.]

This rail eliminates the struggle of setting your eye relief with scopes with short tubes. I had a customer needing a 30mm tube scope installed and had problems finding scope ring extensions that didn't cost an arm and a leg. I installed one of these and used standard 30mm rings for a no hassle scope installation. The extra notches make it a very versatile base!

Any large caliber firearm will require constant attention to adjustments. Hard to set up since base tends to raise an lower on elevation. Design does not allow repeatable elevation, on a Mini-14, Mini-30; Garand type action.
Pros: Quality workmanship
Cons: poor engineering
