Good for Basic Pictures

by Legacy Reviewer, Written on February 29, 2012
I have used these cameras for 2 years in extremely wet and unforgiving environments. They are easy to set up and relatively efficient on battery use if you get a well made one sent to you. I have also received them for use and they were defective right out of the box. If you want to purchase a large amount of cameras and just want to make the distinction between a man and a deer or pig, they will do the trick for you. But be prepared to send a poorly made one back. Issues such as continued firing of pictures, poor battery life, and waterproof protection have plagued several that I have purchased. Sometimes they just slow down and stop picking up images. Figure on a life expectancy of 6-12 months. Why do I keep using them? Because they are cheap and easily replaced if stolen. They are like an AK 47 without the great reliability. Easy to strap on, large loop to lock the door to a tree, and easy to set up. I suggest making a box for them out of plywood to help keep them dry. I have heard that you can power them with a car battery wired into the contacts if you leave c-cell batteries in them to extend the camera life. By far they are the simplest cameras I have used and that has merit if you are being eaten alive by mosquitoes or deer flies!
Pros: Easy to use
Cons: Picture clarity and quality control
