Awesome, but...
This rear aperture sight is awesome, but finding a good front sight to match was for me almost impossible. I didn't like Williams' matching front globe sight. I prefer a fiber-optic blade front sight, but there aren't too many made tall enough to work with this rear sight. I ended up having to modify one meant for a different gun, and that works great now.
So, I'm very happy with the rear sight. It helps my aging eyes keep up with my son without using a scope. The 20" & 22" RARs are excellent platforms for aperture sights too.

Not Suited to the Recommended Front Sight
Nicely made and apparently designed to use with the Williams front sight (WL-RS1-RA22LRTAB-71079) on the Ruger American Rimfire. Unfortunately this front sight / rear sight combination doesn't work because the front sight tube diameter is too large and the rear sight is necessarily mounted too far forward. To make it work on my rifle the rear sight aperture would have to be the same size as the threaded hole the eye piece screws in to. I really wanted to like this set up and have several Williams sights but unfortunately for me I wasted my money. Williams - you need to design a smaller diameter front sight to pair with this rear sight and I would buy it.
Pros:
- It will work with a tall fire sight, but not with the recommended aperture front sight
Cons:
- It doesn't work with the recommended front sight
Best Used for:
- shooting in combination with a tall fire sight
