Most Helpful Positive Review Williams Ghost Ring is the way to go for accuracy and versatility
The Williams Universal Ghost Ring Fire Sight is the best way to go if you shoot super tight patterning turkey loads. Last year I switched to Winchester XR turkey loads and was amazed how tight the pattern was at 30 yards. However, my shotgun (with fixed fiber optic sights) shoots these tight loads low and to the left. I realized I needed an adjustable sight on my shotgun that would allow me to put the pattern where I aim. So I installed a red-dot on the shotgun and it worked fine for putting the pattern on aim. However, I did not like like the way the red-dot looked on the gun, didn't like rel...

Sights Are Fine But Installation Was a Challenge

by spwenger, from AZ, United States Written on December 17, 2023
Installation instructions are woefully inadequate and the Williams tech was not that helpful.

I mounted the sights on a Turkish-made Mossberg O/U gun, with a 0.277" wide rib.The sight bases have a pyramidal set of grooves for 1/4", 5/16" and 3/8" grooves. The instructions make no mention that instillation my require shimming, which I was told by the Williams tech. After an unsuccessful attempt to cut shims from a sheet of aluminum, I fund an expired, plastic membership card a bit thicker than an average credit card. a 1/4" strip cut from the card, to fill the narrowest groove in the base, was just thick enough to take out the vertical slop.

Each sight base has four sets of holes to locate the screws, according to the width of the rib. Aligning the screws with the locking block that clamps the sight to the rib is easy enough for the first one, which is loosely screwed screwed in place before setting the sight on the rib. Doing so with the second locking block, once the sight is sitting on the rail is another matter. It finally occurred to me to cut a pointed toothpick in half, for use as a slave pin, to get the holes aligned. Had Williams included that suggestion in the instructions, it would have saved me a couple of hours of frustration.

It also would have been nice had the instruction included disassembly and reassembly of the rear sight, required to access one set of the screw holes.

I zeroed the 20-gauge gun with slugs at 25 yards (with a guesstimate of how high to pl...

Great sights!

by SC 870, from SC, United States Written on November 26, 2021
Easy install and good install instructions. Has windage & elevation adjustments. Fiber optic aiming points are nice and bright with minimal lighting, super bright in direct sunlight. Exactly what I was looking for to add to my vent rib 870. Quick shipping from OpticsPlanet as well.

Williams gohst ring shotgun sight

by Kirk, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on November 18, 2019
Install was fairly easy. Must be patient to get the small screws to thread. My vent rib was 3/8", the largest. Winchester 1300. Might be a bit more difficult to get it to align right on a smaller rib, but it is do able. Sights glow well with a little light. Plenty of room in the ghost ring to find your target. Seem secure and strong.
Pros:
  • Universal rib size
Cons:
  • A little pricey
Best Used for:
  • Deer hunting, Turkey hunting
