Be sure you know that this magazine is going to stick out of the bottom of your compact 1911 handgun grip about 3/4". I was aware of that when ordering. It is not real clear in the pictures or on Wilson's website.

So, it is an "extended" 8 round mag for the officer's frame. The front end of the base pad fits high up in the grip so that you don't over insert the mag. That is better than trying to use a full size 1911 mag, in my opinion. It is great for back up or target practice, but it is not well suited for concealed carry. I put it in my pocket when carrying my Colt Defender with a Wilson 7 round compact mag inserted. That way you have 16 rounds with two mags. Should be enough.

As with all Wilson Combat mags that I have used, the quality is outstanding and it feeds perfectly. An added bonus is the polymer followers will not scrape up the inside of an aluminum frame 1911 feed ramp, when configured with a tradition style non-throated barrel.
