its a well made knife with good parts. but the bone handle is the weak link. it shattered after whacking a tree less than 10 times. i was able to rebuild the handle with a 3/4 in metal pipe, centering spacers for the tang, a pvc inner sleeve and epoxy. now it will withstand batoning and hacking. the blade is a full grind which makes it really light for such a thick blade. steel guard has a blade centering slot cut into it. if you know how to build knives buying this for finished parts is not a bad idea. i will buy another one and use a brass pipe as handle and give it to my son.
