My pistol required a dovetail to be machined into the slide for the front sight. My gunsmith installed the sights. The XS sights are a major improvement over the Colt factory sights. The best description for sighting is: "Dot the I." By holding the bottom of the small circle of the front sight on top of the white vertical line, my pistol is dead on for 15 yards. By holding the bottom of the large circle of the front sight on top of the white vertical line, my pistol is dead on for 25 yards. With the glow in the dark feature, these sights are ideal for low level light situations. If your vision makes it difficult to aim with factory blackened sights, I highly recommend installing the XS Big Dot sight system.
