That's right. Fit both to your base. Stone the sight tennon so its a friction fit. Don't use the loctite just yet. Ruger over the years has used different pilot bits, some are #54 and other times 1/16th. Who knows what you'll get? Now you can try both dots and see which works best for you. If you like to "bury the sight" like I do, use the Standard. If you prefer the "pumpkin on a post" sight picture then get the Big Dot. Don't worry, you'll use the spare sight.Rugers are like women- there's always another one waiting down the road for you.
Pros:
- Improvement
- Improvement over stock ramp
Best Used for:
- Small dot small game.Big Dot big game./thugs

I put this sight on my 2 1/2" Sp101 revolver. It did take some work to install, drilling was required to secure the sight. But the sight fit into the slot without issues and it wasn't very difficult if you have any experience working with tools. A small amount of permanent lock was provided with the purchase too, if you're not planning on changing it out. I went with the small do over the big dot and am happy for the choice, the small fits the rear grooves wonderfully and I can align the tops with ease for my sight picture. The big dot requires a half circle picture (lining the front dot half way into the rear groove). The white is eye catching and the tritium is a nice comforting glow. No complaints and I'd call it an easy and very worthwhile upgrade to your Ruger Sp101.
Pros:
- Nice white for day and glow for night.
Cons:
- Requires drilling to place.

Much better than the stock sights for my older else. The point of impact on my LCRX is real close to perfect using the holds suggested in the instructions. The Tritium is bright enough to see well in low light once my eyes adjust to the light.

I just recieved my order and I'm unhappy with the quality. The side of the sight is smeared with white paint. Although the sight will still work, for the price I would expect better. Disappointed with both XS and opticsplanet to be honest.
Cons:
- Very sloppy finish to mount onto a brand new revolver

Great sight for a j frame. Makes picking up the front sight very fast. The standard size dot fits in the j frames rear sight notch a little bit better in my opinion while still being more visible and faster to pick up than regular sights.

Really like the end result. XS Standard Dot fills the fixed rear sight notch perfectly (I would not use the Big Dot on this pistol), is pretty much a white dot in daylight (way better than OEM for old eyes) but glows green very nicely in darkness. Installation best performed with a drill press. YouTubers make it look easy but not so much. Have a NEW high quality 1/16" drill bit (the sight is very hard steel), keep bit short to not break it. Red Locktite included with purchase but I chose to go with blue in case I ever want to remove it. Have another on order for my wife's SP101.. final touch to trigger job, spring changes and grip upgrades. An even better SD revolver now.
Pros:
- Great Visibility Improvement
Cons:
- Slightly difficult installation
