This riser increased the gas block rail height by .250-- making it parallel with upper receiver rail. Be careful adding sight with plastic parts to gas block as it gets extremely hot. Quality was good. Installed easily. Expensive part but YHM may be only manufacturer of a .250 riser. Save your money by buying a higher front sight instead of using a .250 riser and a same plane front sight.
