YHM QD Blast Deflector – Very Simple and Very Effective
I frequently use a YMC .30 Cal. QD Phantom Silencer (YHM-3300) on multiple platforms. Through the recommendation of a friend, I switched the QD Mount Flash Hider for a QD Mount Muzzle Brake (YHM-3302-MB-24A) on a 308 to improve control. The brake makes a noticeable improvement in push and barrel stability with and without the silencer. A big down side, as with most muzzle brakes, when used “bare”, it side-vents muzzle blast. At the range, I was knocking thinks off the neighboring shooters benches, and in the field was blasting dirt and dust into my spotter’s face – not very neighborly.

YHM blast deflector thread protector
Running YHM suppressor and needed device for protecting threads on adapter when supprrssor not in place. These are often out of stock at YHM. Optics Planet not only has them but many adapters as well. And ordering is easier and faster shipping than YHM. Optics Planet offers great availability and setvice. Will buy again.

Blast Deflector from YHM is the bomb!!!
A few years ago I was introduced to YHM suppressors by a friend that had one for sale, so I got it from him, then loved how that .30 cal sound was being muffled, so I got one for my 5.56 a year or so ago. A couple months ago a coworker and I went to the range and he had his AR fitted with a blast deflector, although there was noise, the sound at the operators position was almost as low as if the weapon was suppressed. Since I have the YHM muzzle break installed on all my weapon systems in order to fit the suppressors, I purchased a blast deflector. Needless to say, now I own 4 blast deflectors and 4 suppressors to fit all my guns, they’re all interchangeable and they work flawlessly! Reduces the sound for the operator just enough, you have to wear hearing protection still. Makes the receptor [edited] their pants when they have the noise coming at them. Overall is a great device to keep my recoil steady, the noice a tad low and a massive ball of fire spitting from the mouth of my rifles/pistols...
Pros:
- Sends the blast forward
- Lowers the recoil climb
- Increases stability
- Helps reducing the sound for the operator
Cons:
- Gets hot, wear mitts to handle
Best Used for:
- everything
- Range day
- Car gun, home defense & recreational shooting
