This is much simpler to use than the usual bore-sighter - no "spud" to screw on to the end of the unit and adjusting until the fit is snug but not too snug. Simply place on the end of the muzzle with the small centering point into the muzzle and turn it on. It's all ready to go.
One word of advice. If you're trying to use on a rifle with a muzzle break/flash hider then you'll need to remove that device. Otherwise, you won't be able to center the laser properly for an accurate presentation of the alignment with the bore.
