You can pay more, but you can’t find better - Zeiss Conquest HD 10x42mm Schmidt-Pechan Prism Waterproof Binoculars

I bought these binoculars for my father, a former naval officer who’s been using the same shabby pair practically since World War II. They are exquisite. Sharpness is very very good, and there is no color fringing, fall off at the edges, aberration, or operational difficulty of any kind.
I personally own the Leitz Ultravid 8x32 at three times the price, and the Trinovid 10x25. When judged with the eyes, the Zeiss are every bit as good as the Leitz. Maybe with years of outdoors exposure and abuse the Leitz will hold up better. Neither I or my father has any intention of abusing them that way!
