BBFLY's Review of Zeiss B Design Selection 6x18mm Monocular

The monocular has a push-pull focusing and it is not easy to focus on things further than about 10 to 15 feet because. Specifically, without a wheel to adjust the focus it is hard to get precise focus unless focusing on a stationary object with two hands and a bit of hunting back-and-forth. By that time I have usually lost the thing that I am interested in looking at it: it usually has flown away. I cannot recommend this for looking at birds or even flying butterflies, although it did resolve very close, stationary objects, such as flowers and small insects well. Recommend for the latter use only.
Pros:
  • Very good macro views for up close objects.
Cons:
  • Focus is two handed only and after 15 feet there is very little adjustability to go all the way to infinity, this makes it very hard to focus on birds or even flying butterflies
  • Two handed focus. Edge sharpness not that great.
Best Used for:
  • Close inspection of stationary insects, flowers, or as one review or put it artwork and museum objects.
