eyedoc's Review of Zeiss LRP S3 4-25x50mm Rifle Scope First Focal Plane
Take this review with a grain of salt. I am not a firearms expert, but I am a well experienced eye doctor. We use zeiss microscopes in surgery so maybe I have a slight bias.
Pros:The clarity of this scope is incredible. No discernable peripheral distortion or chromatic aberration .The focus and turret knobs have a great feel- stout, stable but not too stiff.
Cons: Heavy! Big! There’s no mistaking this scope for a hunting scope; in my mind it’s bench only.
I also have a tract Toric which is a clone of this scope. The color saturation on the zeiss scope is more natural to my eye which may be the difference in optical coating. Is the difference worth the extra $700? A matter of personal preference.
