Yev's Review of Zeiss LRP S3 6-36x56mm Rifle Scope
At 20% off already discounted price and $400 OP bucks it was no brainier for me. I have purchased this scope before from different vendor but unfortunately had to return because of parallax adjustment issues. Nevertheless, it made my wanted list because everything else was pretty darn good.
FFP, Mil tree reticle, Japanese made, non rotating ocular unlike NF lines, checks all the boxes.
Optically, I think my S&B PM2 5-25 glass is better, but is it $2500 better? Absolutely not. Is G3 better? May be, but everything I have ever owned from Vortex has been to their repair shop and than subsequently sold. Not a fan of Vortex products.
Reticle is perfect for aging eyes, bold, easy to focus on and non-obstructing. My ATACR MilXT reticle, no matter what I do with ocular, looks fuzzy and too busy to me. But this is a matter of opinion, of course.
Eyebox is tight? It actually helps to minimize parallax error, just mount your scope properly and adjust LOP. Also not a problem at magnifications you should be using this optic anyway. Golden optical performance is at middle third of magnification range of any scope. For this one, its 15-25, which perfectly matches my needs and will get me past mile just fine. Same goes for complaints about sub-optimal performance at 36X. If you need 36X, get a 5-45 scope.
