Comments on Zeiss Terra ED
good for beginner only
Pros: value for money
Cons: not meeting expectations
Great Value
Two years ago I read a magazine review of this Zeiss Terra, comparing it to five other, upscale binos. I was impressed with the raters' findings, evaluations and comparisons. The Terra stood pretty tall in comparison with the higher (in some cases much higher) priced optics. I filed that review away in my mind, for future considerations.
Fast forward to six weeks ago, I received a promotional email from Optics Planet which included steep reductions on several optics; and these Terra's were in that mix. Recalling my encounter with the magazine review, I placed an immediate order and the item was in my mailbox four days later. I have only examined the optic briefly around my property, but I am happy with the clarity, edge-to-edge sharpness, and the long eye relief (I'm an eyeglass wearer). The real testing comes in two months on another safari.
The only knock I have on this bino is its sensitive focus. The focusing 'sweet spot' is great, but it is just that --a spot! With the easy turning of the wheel, I pass the focus sweet spot extremely quickly, several times, before settling on best focus. May be a learning/practice thing for me. But, otherwise, I feel that I got a super deal.

Would recommend: Yes
designed poorly
The optics are fair at best. The lack of case ??what a joke. and the objective lens covers even bigger joke looks like a third grader designed them, You can't even get another type of cap to fit as they made the barrels not round so any other cap will not seal correctly. I am
sending back and buying some Steiner's at least they were assembled in Colorado not china and the optics are as good as these but come with a case and the lens caps are awesome they also have the heritage warranty. Buyer beware of these inferior binoculars.
Pros: optics are fair
Cons: poorly designed assembled in china
