Joe's Review of Zeiss Terra ED Pocket 8x25mm Schmidt-Pechan Binoculars

The binoculars came in a plastic storage case which included warranty, manual, strap and a thin nylon bag with pull string closure. I was hoping for a nice heavier case with belt loop for walking/hiking and not have them dangling from my neck.

I have two pair compact binoculars ( B&L) which are 10 and 20 years old and originally cost half as much. They do not come near to comparing to the Zeiss. The binoculars were easy to set up and use. The viewing with these glasses is spectacular. I tried a simple test where I took a standard eye chart (normally placed at a distance of 10 ft) and placed it at 50 yards. On a bright sunny day I sat in the garage with my elbows on the table trying to hold the glasses as steady as I could. I used the Zeiss and a Nikon Monarch 7 8x42 for comparison. It became obvious that my limit would be my ability to hold the glasses steady with little or no movement which I couldn't. I was able to read down to the 10/40 letters with both binoculars. The 10/40 letters measure 0.30 inch (7.62mm) It was slightly easier with the Ziess. When viewing the detail in the surrounding trees 50-200 yards away there was not much difference with the edge going to the 8x42. The added field of view improved the viewing area ans made it more pleasing.

These are wonder full binoculars for the price. I solved my belt loop carrying case by taking one from my old glasses.
