What are the benefits of SinterFire bullets?
SinterFire offers frangible bullets and ammunition designed to disintegrate on impact instead of a potential ricochet, passing through a target, or fragmenting into large pieces. They're also lead-free, reducing exposure during high-volume shooting, especially indoor target shooting and training.
The SinterFire NXG (Next Generation) bullets and ammunition are not frangible, but they are still lead-free and the monolithic copper projectile replaces a lead ball core.
What are frangible bullets good for?
The frangible bullet type is ideal for self-defense, police, and military use because they disintegrate upon impact with anything harder than the bullet, greatly reducing potential unintended hazards. They're far less likely to pass through a target and into people or objects behind them. They also reduce the chance of large fragments like those from traditional hollow-point bullets that can continue to travel even after they've broken apart from the main bullet. This disintegrating property also works against the tendency of a bullet to ricochet if it hits a hard surface at an angle.
What is the difference between an FMJ and a JHP?
An FMJ is a bullet type that has a Full Metal Jacket. It is also often also called "ball ammo". The core, usually lead, is encased in a metal like brass or copper. If the bottom of the bullet core is also covered by this jacket, fully encapsulating the bullet, they're most often called TMJ (Total Metal Jacket). They're a round-nosed or flat-nosed bullet best used for target practice and training.
A JHP bullet type is a Jacketed Hollow Point. Instead of a round nose like an FMJ or TMJ, the JHP is a hollow-point bullet. This means the tip of the bullet has a hole inside of it that allows the bullet to expand upon impact instead of simply passing through.
