The StellarVue SV102 AP Refractor Telescope has an aluminum tube and dew shield that has a beautiful stardust finish that helps the scope stand out against the black anodized aluminum fittings, making for a very classy and elegant look. The dew shield is easily retracted or extended. While extended, the dew shield does exactly as the name implies - reduces the dewing at night that can interfere with your viewing and helps cut out the light from the interfering street lamps. The dew shield's other purpose is to serve as a sun shade during the day. Also, retracting the dew shield makes it shorter, and therefore more convenient for storage. For event more image brightness and contrast, the inside of the tube assemble is painted ultra flat black that helps cut down excess reflections and increase contrast.

The focuser on the StellarVue SV 102mm AP Telescope, Refractor is a 2.5 inch fully rotating, precision dual speed focuser with a threaded focuser drawtube, 1.25 and 2" compression ring adapters, and an oversized rotating assembly. Three focusing knobs are located on the telescope - one on the left, and one on the right. The large single knobs on the left and right provide coarse focusing, while the fine focus knob as an 11/1 rotation reducer, allowing for fine and accurate focusing. Under the focuser, there is tension adjustment set screw and a thumb screw for locking the focuser in place. The draw tube on the StellarVue SV 102AP Refractor Telescope features a millimeter scale on top. On the top of the focuser, there are also 5mm threaded holes that allow for attachment of a finderscope.

The Stellarvue 102AP Refracting Telescope comes with 2 hinged aluminum mounting rings with five screws, tops and bottom, each. the threaded holes are 6mm with one center hole, two holes spaced 1.5" apart, and two holes spaced at 60mm apart.
