The Timberline Knives Montauk Point Fillet & Steaking Knife Set is the culmination of years of development between custom knife maker and international sportsman Greg Lightfoot and commercial fishermen who tested and helped refine the size, shape and characteristics of the Timberline Knives Montauk Point 2-Piece Fillet & Steaking Knife System to insure maximum cutting performance in the fillet and steaking process. In addition to the need for high performance cutting, the processing of large fish and multiple fish, required the Timberline Knives Montauk Point Fillet Knife to have the ergonomic characteristics of a secure grip to insure minimum user fatigue and maximum comfort, and the correct amount of length and flex to maximize the useable meat and minimize waste. To achieve these essential characteristics, Lightfoot incorporated a curved handle spine and finger choil and a 9.5" blade with just the right flex. The companion Timberline Knives Montauk Point Steaking Knife features a thicker, stiffer blade spine to better "steak" large fish.
