I understand the use of the basic plate with the dovetail, but what is the function of the second, thinner plate I see next to it in some pictures? Expert Answer

The second smaller plate is known as a sealing plate. It is used when mounting an RMR optic to a slide or adapter plate to protect the exposed battery and electronics on the underside of the optic.

Does the mount fit a Gen 3 Glock 20SF? Expert Answer

Yes. The Trijicon Fits Glock RMR Pistol Mount is compatible with all Glock handguns (with the exception of MOS models). It will replace your rear sight and allow you to mount any optic that uses the Trijicon RMR mounting footprint. It also includes hardware to install your optic.
