Will the 16.5" work with a 16" barrel? Manufacturer Answer

You can use the 16.5" handguard with a 16" barrel, but only if you mount a linear compensator (or similar) as a muzzle device. You "lose" overall length on the barrel when it is installed in the upper. You CANNOT use a muzzle brake, flashhider, or a suppressor if going with that length. No open muzzle device ports can be recessed inside the handguard and a suppressor is to large in diameter to fit. Please contact us directly if you need further clarification.
