Vixen R150S Newtonian Reflector Telescope 2641 makes an excellent "serious" beginner's telescope with its full 5.9" of aperture. Vixen R150S Telescope provides fast f/5 optical system that is great for wide-field viewing and imaging of extended objects.image

If you're looking for a high quality Newtonian reflector, the R-series Vixen telescopes is made for you. The R-series Vixen telescopes offer all the traditional advantages of the Newtonian - freedom from chromatic aberration (color fringing) and the most aperture for the money - but R-series Vixen telescopes also incorporate a unique sliding focus mount which allows the use of a smaller secondary mirror. This allows for less light loss than a conventional Newtonian reflector.

Vixen R150S Newtonian reflector telescope is the optical assembly only without a a mount, tripod, tube rings or dovetail. You can use any Vixen mount with the Vixen R150S Newtonian reflector telescope, but especially recommended for the beginner is the Vixen Great Polaris Economy Equatorial Mount with AL-150 Tripod. For tube rings, order Vixen Tube Rings (pair) 176mm. For a dovetail, order Vixen GP-Dovetail Tube Plate AM-AD-3809.
