The Vixen VC200L Catadioptric Telescope with GPD2 Equatorial Mount, HAL130 Tripod GPD2-VC200L (N) 39852 is a highly corrected and specialized telescope for astro imaging. The VC200L Catadioptric Telescope by Vixen features an elaborate VISAC (Vixen's Sixth Order Aspherical Catadioptric) Design that achieves excellent image correction throughout the large illuminated field. The Vixen VC 200L Telescope is designed for Astro Imaging, producing sharp images of stars (smaller than 15 micrometers), even at the edge of the 35mm film format (larger CCD chips). This is smaller than the resolution of fine quality CCD cameras, which means that this Vixen Telescope does not limit image quality. Taking photos can be achieved through the telescope and using a telephoto lens parallel to the main instrument, or you can use the Vixen VC-200L for guiding while the camera sits on top. Also included with the Vixen VC200-L Catadioptric Telescope is the GPD2 Equatorial Mount, one of the stronger and heftier models of the GP mounts. With its solid steel R. A. and Declination axes and brass worm gears this mount will hold up to years of heavy use. In order to assure accurate tracking for astrophotography the worm, gears are especially machined to a very high precision that minimizes periodic error. The Vixen GPD2 Mount holds almost 50% more weight than the GP2 and comes standard with tripod and counterweight. It is easy to use and functions well for both the visual observer and astrophotography. Motion is controlled by included control knobs for accurate slewing. The polar altitude adjustment varies from 0° to 62° in altitude. These features of the Vixen VC200L Catadioptric Telescope with GPD2 Equatorial Mount, HAL130 Tripod GPD2-VC200L (N) 39852 make it a dual-purpose telescope designed for both visual observation and astrophotography.![]()
