Either option is correct so it really comes down to personal choice or how big the objective bell size is.

Used these on a Ruger 10/22. Probably over kill, but I really like the look. Very well made. Vertical rings do not shift/twist scope when tightened. Pros: Solid Cons: Little harder to mount

I have these mounts on my Savage FV-SR with a Nikon 3 x9 Scope and they are excellent. Easy to install and rock solid. Most highly recommended. Pros: Well made and finished. Torque screws work well and wrench is provided.

Warne 1in PA Low Rifle Scope Rings are stylized, lappable and engravable. Maxima series mounting scope rings by Warne Scope Mounts are designed to mount on Weaver style and picatinny bases.
