I own 2 of these, and a veracity, and wouldn't part with either of them! Fantastic useable reticle, and super magnification in FIRST FOCAL PLANE! I read other reviews that complain about clarity, c a, reticle illumination and I'm thinking. "if you want a perfect optic, cough up the extra thousands of dollars and buy one"! There are certainly better rifle scopes available, but none with all these features at this price! Glass is plenty clear to use at full magnification if need be, the slight amount of c a will never hurt your shooting, and personally I never need illumination. In conclusion, these are amazing for the money!

This scope is awesome! I read all the reviews and yes the eye box gets smaller at 40 power than at 25 (duh!), yes the MOAs shrink at full power (duh), you don’t want a horizontal reticle in the top half of your sight picture... it seems like people are expecting everything out of one scope which you’re never going to get! The reticle is great if you’re into F class or even if you’re not but want to use the reticle (that’s me). The glass picture is great for me.. to have it compared to the scopes at the highest pinnacle is ridiculous in my opinion. The comment of “you should spend a little more and get better glass...” isn’t fair... you’d spend at least double (think about it)... In this price range you won’t find a better FFP scope with this range that has glass that is plenty good enough to shoot well beyond 1000 yards (ELR). Is it perfect? No. The illumination is something that I’ll probably never use as it’s gotta be pretty dark to see four dots. I can’t use brand names or I’d list a bunch of other options... if you’re looking to get to 40x this scope is a great value... not the best scope in the world... just a great overall value. I put this on my 6.5cm and have another one on the way for my 6mm CM or 28 Nosler (can’t decide). For the spend you’re getting a ton of scope.
Pros:
- Good glass, 40x with good sight picture, easy and extremely repeatable zero stop, 34mm

I had some problems with a scope and was totally happy how they handled it , I have a lot more shooting to do and expecting to prove that Burris scopes are as good as any other top quality scopes.I enjoy testing guns and scopes for their best performance and then I help others to chose what is best for other peoples hunting and target needs. This is my hobby. Thanks
Pros:
- Happy with Burris warranty 100percent

The Burris XTR II F-class 8-40 MOA is great for F-class shooting the knobs are crisp and precise the optics are very clear and let in enough light to shoot in very trying conditions , I am a competition shooter and recently competed in the Australian Tasmanian Queens Championships 2017 and I managed to win the number 1 lead up badge , the number 1 Queens badge and the number 1 Grand aggregate badge in F-Cass Standard B ," I used a 308 win using 155 gr projectiles" it was shot from 500 to 1000 yards . this scope worked flawlessly and allowed me to hit a 5 inch super centre at 1000 yards , I would recommend this scope to F-class shooters for easy weather reading with the moa increments , it allows you to outshoot the rest of the pack that use more expensive gear .
Pros:
- very high quality and resonably priced

Nice features but to keep the price low they opted to use a lower grade glass. Lots of CA. Sent mine back.
Sightron s3 for $300 less is nice and clear. For me that was more important. I shoot known distance targets.

Clear optics, nice retical, first focal plane is different but seems good, beware this is a 34mm oddball diameter tube so you need 34mm rings, I bought the 140.00 dollar burris extreme tactical 6 screw steel rings and they would not hold the scope in place, it kept sliding forward on my 308 rifle recoil, now I'm looking for ways to make this work, burris says I mite have to spend another 129.00 dollars on 34mm signature rings with inserts just to hold it in place, because they do not recommend that I try lapping the rings that I have.
Maybe you will get lucky with rings that will hold this in place with strong recoil.

Optics very clear at all power levels, and first focus plane is new to me but like what it can deliver. Power range great for long shots and getting shot groups as tight as possible with one's aging eyes. Power of 25-30 my best range but went for the extra option to 40. Pupil eye space is limited at most powers but hoping what it will do is force me to the right and correct spot to eliminate optical drift and bad shots. Retical you will either like or dislike. Did find that when you go for F1 shooting at long distances with wide power ranges the F1 will leave you with a minute reticle on low power. At high power the long range lower 20moa portion will drift out of line of sight. Believe with the 40 power this is what will happen, can't avoid it. If you don't like the low power or high power physical limitation on the reticle, go for lower power. I like the higher power possibilities and will be shooting most of time where reticle can deliver what I want. So each one's case will be different but the above reflections are the parameters you will be working with.

This scope literally solved all the problems of my previous scope. This scope was designed for F-Class, and it delivers on all fronts. Clear glass, nice turrets, great reticle. The illuminated part is a joke, but for those that thought they would see a red dot on a black target, we'll call that wish-full thinking. The best part of the reticle is that it is easy to box-in the outer target ring. This scope is a beast, and with Burris' Forever Warranty, it more than delivers for F-class matches.
Pros:
- Price
- zero stop
- Reticle Design
- 40x
Cons:
- illuminated reticle is very weak on even the highest setting.

This Burris XTR II is the fastest long range scope on the market and also the BEST PRICE
With 20 MOA of Reticle hashes all you do is Range the target ,hold that MOA distance and shoot no knob twisting
Optics are crystal clear, this is my 2nd XTR II , you will Love It!

This being a first focal plane makes the Fclass reticle very useful for holdovers, very clear glass, zero stop and the over all quality made this scope perfect for me, so I bought another. Read a license plate at 880 yards and you can hold the center dot in the 0, I realy like the fine line reticle! Only one thing I think could be improved is the brightness of the lit reticle, you can't see any thing under #7 brightness
