This is a really big back pack, it's the second one that I have owned. I chose the lightest color to see inside with out using a flashlight. Its poly lined for some rain resistance and the seams are be sewn really well. The zippers are sturdy but pull the tab has flimsy corded knots instead of a plastic clip like my previous pack. The straps are very sturdy too with good padding. I use this every day for work as a train conductor I've never carried it more than a half mile so I couldn't say how it feels after a long hike. It's my mobile office and luggage. It fits comfortable on my back and shoulders. The weight is spread evenly on my body. Mine weighs 35lbs loaded. Make sure that you use the waist strap to ensure your load remains centered when you wear it over longer distances. I keep two changes of clothes, rain suit, my rule books, logbooks computer tablet, hand held radio an extra battery, lantern, pens, markers, and a shaving kit in the two main compartments. In the two side compartments I have extension cords, cables, and chargers as well as more rule books. In the long narrow compartment along the bottom I have my tennis shoes. The front compartments open wide so packing and unpacking is easy with lots of sturdy clips and straps to hold thing is place. Behind the back padding, there is another compartment that can hold a laptop. Plenty of zippered pockets inside for storing smaller things.
