Is this compatible in front of a scope with a 56mm objective? IF yes, do I need any extra items such as some sort of adapter?

It will work with 56mm objective scopes with the addition of the Armasight Scope Mount for Clip-On Day/Night System. You would need MPN: ANAM000012. Scope Mounting System #4 for Scopes with 56-58.7 mm Objective Diameter
