does a j mount for g 11 work with this?

No and yes. The j arm will not go directly into the device. However you can buy a additional jdapt plate or tier none adapter that connects to the quick rail that will go to a jarm. However some jarms differ and may require additional modification to function as desired. there is also mum style and bearing quick rail jarms available that will connect to the device but I do not know if they're g11 compatible that you would have to check
