The Thunder 40 was the first Bersa pistol chambered for .40 S&W. Due to the 1994 U.S. ban on magazines exceeding 10 rounds capacity, the full-size Bersa Thunder 40 with a magazine design capacity of 13 was initially unable to enter the U.S. market. Subsequently, Bersa introduced a compact version, the MiniThunder 40, in 2000 that met the ban restrictions. Since the ban has lifted both versions became available in the US.![]()
