The Thunder 9 was the first gun made in the Thunder series of pistols from Bersa. It was introduced into the US market only after the lifting of the Clinton-era ban in 2004. Addressing both the requirements of the ban and surging consumer demand for a concealable carry pistol, the smaller Thunder 9 Ultra Compact was introduced in 2000. Patterned closely after the earlier, double-stack 9mm Model 90, the Thunder 9 features an aluminum alloy frame for lightness, with the rest of the pistol's metal parts made of 4140 steel.![]()
